The Perfect Barstool

Barstools have become one of the most desirable types of seating in recent years because of open concept kitchen design. Barstools, and their smaller brother, the counter stool have become a common place in many households. Like chairs, they are used in the kitchen or dining room, but they are also used in games rooms around a pool table or poker table, or even outside. They come in a spectrum of sizes, as well as colors, and designs. Different stools are meant for different settings, we carry rustic stools like Windsor and Saddle stools, but they aren’t suited for high end homes, restaurants, or nightclubs. Our website is designed to guide you, the restaurant and residential shopper, to find your perfect barstool.

Do you need a Counter height Barstool?

One of the most important distinctions that you need to make as a buyer is the distinction between counter height barstools and bar height barstools. Bar height stools are really meant for a higher counter surface than many people think. It can be really hard to judge heights, especially with regards to kitchen counter tops. Many people mistakenly think that they need a bar height barstool, when they really need counter stools for their 36 inch counter tops; our website has made every effort to inform the customer of the difference.

Although colloquially known as barstools, counter stools have seat heights about 10 inches below the height of the standard 36 inch residential countertop; different manufacturers, and different models of counter height stools have seat heights between 24 inches and 27 inches. If you are purchasing an adjustable height barstool, make sure that it works within the range that you need.

On the other hand, bar height stools sit a few inches higher. These barstools have seat heights of about 28 inches to 32 inches, and are meant for home and commercial bars that are 42 inches tall.

It’s always very important to measure the height of the surface that you are going to pair with your new barstool. Although most bar surfaces and counter surfaces follow these heights, we haven’t measured your bar, counter top, or table top, it is very important to be sure of the stool height that you need.

If you are looking for a barstool that sits a bit lower or higher, we also have short and extra tall stools that will be perfect for those applications.

Styles of Barstools

Many of our customers come to us looking for designer, or high end barstools, they might be looking for something to outfit their nightclub or lounge, or even sports bar. Although the appeal of chrome and leather is enticing for some, others are set on wooden stools, something more classic, modest like a saddle stool. One of our largest categories is the arrow-back and Windsor stools; timeless designs of stools from the colonial era. Windsor Stools are popular among English and Irish Pubs, and cottages across the USA.

One of our most popular kids of stool, is the backless bar stool. Many of our bar stools come without backs, which many customers feel makes them easier to get in and out of. They also can be used with a simple swivel mechanism. In some cases backless stools are less expensive.

If backless isn’t your style, we also have an assortment of bar stools with backs, these stools are really comfortable, and many of them come with the coveted memory swivel mechanism, which returns the stool to the front facing position when the guest exits the chair.
